Why Cambridge?
What makes these exams unique is their excellent design, particularly all the ways they fool the passive test-taker. You can't simply guess and hope for the best. This is true for all sections, but especially the infamous Use of English. Instead, you need to understand and appreciate the mechanics of English and how words come together in predetermined patterns to create grammatically correct sentences.
Because of the intensity of Cambridge, some people run away and choose an 'easier' exam, often driven by a desperation to get a certificate in the shortest time possible. And great, if that's your purpose, choose another route. But, if you really want to master the language, to fall in love with English, then the Cambridge exams are absolutely the best choice.
Why Me?
My job is to provide you with the tools to walk into that exam room without any doubt that you will succeed. So, how will you gain this confidence? Well, by following the specific, step-by-step processes that I have created for every single question.
These processes don't involve the generic 'focus and read carefully' advice you'll find elsewhere. What they'll teach you is exactly how to think: how to actively read, how to avoid traps, how to identify the patterns, and how to arrive at the correct answer. Knowing what to do and when to do it removes the guesswork, saves valuable time, and ultimately reduces stress.
Your journey with English doesn't end once you've passed the exam. That's why my ultimate goal is to enable you to keep developing independently long after we've finished working together.
One-to-one Classes
To start with, I offer a free 30-minute consultation during which we’ll discuss your goals, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions, and we’ll decide whether we’re the right fit for each other. If we’re both happy to continue, I’ll ask you to complete a sample Cambridge exam under exam conditions in your own time, which I’ll assess using the official Cambridge criteria.
In this way, our first lesson becomes much more than a review of your answers. Together, we’ll analyse how you approached each question, the decisions you made, and the questions you asked yourself along the way.
I’m not only assessing your level of English, but also investigating how you think, how well you understand the exam itself, and where your current approach is helping - or holding you back.
Using everything I learn from that investigation, I’ll create a personalised plan that targets the areas where you’ll make the greatest progress.
As I introduce each of the step-by-step processes I’ve created, we’ll work through questions together so I can guide your thinking in real time. Once you’re ready, you’ll apply those processes independently through carefully selected homework, which you’ll send to me for marking before our next lesson.
This allows us to dedicate our class time to analysing your mistakes, refining your thinking, and deepening your understanding of the mechanics of English.
Throughout our work together, I'll continuously monitor your progress and provide feedback so you'll always understand how you're improving.
